  • The physical movement of people from rural to urban areas in India carries its own trials and tribulations with significant impact in both rural and urban areas. The key interest of this study lies in the analysis of the consequences of rural-urban migration in terms of socio-economic change brought through the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM) in Tamil Nadu. This study shows the effect of the mission in both rural and urban regions, and an assessment on how it enhanced the living standards and economic development of migrants. The study utilises quantitave methods using secondary data to evaluate the impacts of SPMRM on migration.
