Architecture plays a crucial role in shaping the physical environment we inhabit. As a profession, architecture continuously evolves to address new challenges that emerge in response to shifting cultural, technological, environmental, and social landscapes. Every profession faces changing paradigms, which is inevitable because of the gap between the professional education and practice itself. This book offers a guideline that discusses these aspects in the Indian context. Titled 'Futures of Relevance: Architecture and Building Practices in India’, published in 2021 with Madhav Doebhakta and Meera Doebhakta as the main authors and contributions from Harshad Bhatia, Prem Nath, Anand Achari, Ashok Tamhankar, Anil Nagrath, John Byrom, and Akhtar Chauhan, the book is a collection of writings on a wide spectrum of topics concerning the architectural profession, landscape design, urban design, and corresponding current contextual implications. It is structured across six sections involving thirty-one chapters: Professions in Building Industry, Specialisations and their Importance in Architecture, Changing Scenarios, Housing and Related Issues, and Other Significant Matters Related to the Profession. The fourth section titled ‘Holistic Architecture’ discusses twelve projects on various genres that highlight the role of nobility in architectural goals.
