The Munify-NIUA dashboard is a visual story telling of complex municipal data. There are over 2300 graphs, of about 200 municipal corporations of India.
These dashboards tell the story of the revenue performance of the municipalities of India, their capital investment and borrowings in the form of bonds.
The graphs present the data over the last five years to visualise the trend analysis. Key parameters of income and expenditure such as components of revenue receipts and expenditure, share of own revenue to total revenue, share of taxes to own revenue, property tax per capita, interest coverage ratio, operating ratio, revenue surplus over time are presented graphically. Data in these dashboards are obtained from audited financial statements.
Capital expenditure is analysed per capita, as a percentage to total expenditure and as extent of utilisation of capital receipts. Here, data for the last five years is presented from the budget documents.
The info graphs can be viewed at municipal, state or national level. Data labels placed with the info graphs present key indicators such as population, income, expenditure and budget size.
Municipal bond issuances have been presented in terms of number of issuances, purpose of issue, credit ratings assigned. The graphs cover the issuances for the last six years.
The dashboard would be a useful tool for municipalities to self-assess and benchmark with peer groups. In any case, it is a lively representation of municipal performance!
