About the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA):
Established in 1976, the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is a premier institute of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, for research and capacity building for the urban sector in India. For more than 40 years now, NIUA has been the vanguard for contributing to and building the urban narrative for a fast-evolving urban India. The Institute has been actively working on bringing forth key areas of concern for urban India in order to build the urban discourse at various urban scales. About the National Urban Digital Mission:
The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) instituted the Centre for Digital Governance (CDG) to operationalise the ambitious National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM) to contribute to quality of life for our citizens by way of inclusive and accessible digital solutions. CDG will use the three pillars of NUDM (People, Process, Platforms) to activate digital service delivery and ease of access across all cities and towns in India by 2024. NUDM will create a shared digital infrastructure as a public good through open source, customisable digital urban platforms, building blocks, data infrastructure to manage the core digital urban data, and the infrastructure required for its seamless exchange. Intenship Description:
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Technical Intern, you will be expected to:
● Platform Development: Assist in the design, development, and enhancement of features on our IT platform. Work on writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
● Testing & Debugging: Help in testing the platform and identifying bugs. Work closely with senior developers to debug and fix issues in the system.
● Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, document specifications, and implement solutions.
● Learning & Development: Continuously improve your technical skills by learning new technologies, tools, and frameworks used within the company.
● Support: Provide technical support for any platform-related issues that may arise during the development and deployment phases.
● Documentation: Assist in documenting code, system architecture, and platform features for future reference and scalability.
● Innovation: Contribute ideas and solutions to improve the overall user experience and functionality of the platform.
Qualifications:
B.Tech (IT, Computer Science, or related fields)
Required Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
○ Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
○ Familiarity with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React/Angular).
○ Basic understanding of databases (SQL, PostgreSQL).
○ Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
○ Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
○ Ability to break down complex technical problems and find effective solutions.
○ Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Communication Skills:
○ Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
○ Ability to document technical details clearly and concisely.

○ A team player who is eager to learn and contribute to group efforts.

Location: Based out of the office at NIUA, New Delhi, with travel to various Indian states as and when required.
