Mayura Gadkari is a Heritage Conservation professional, with over 11 years of experience of working in the realm of policy for integration of cultural heritage with urban development. Over these years, she has worked with international non-profits, para-governmental organisations and city governments across India on several projects and assignments on developing legislative framework for strategic management of tangible heritage assets. Mayura has played a significant role in framing conservation guidelines for heritage buildings and precincts in Mumbai Metropolitan Region and other parts of the country. At NIUA, apart from being a part of the National Programme Management Unit for HRIDAY mission of MoHUA and World Bank-Cities Alliance Technical Assistance for Inclusive Revitalisation of Historic Cities in India, she has been instrumental in framing the ‘Rules and Regulations for Heritage Buildings and Sites in Surat’. As a part of the World Bank-Cities Alliance Technical Assistance for Inclusive Revitalisation of Historic Cities in India, she was a part of the core team for drafting the 'Strategic Framework for Rajasthan State Heritage Programme', one of first such attempts in the country. Currently, she is largely involved with two projects along with other assignments; as a researcher for knowledge capture on 'Implementation of Transit Oriented Development in Indian Cities' and as a core subject professional on 'Preparation of Heritage Conservation Plan for the walled city of Ahmedabad'.
