The Advisory on FSSM in Small and Medium Towns guides ULBs and state institutions in managing faecal sludge where full sewerage is not feasible. It provides standardized guidance on planning, designing, and costing of FSTPs and co-treatment facilities. The advisory addresses key challenges like under-utilization, cost variation, and the need for sustainable, user-friendly technologies, while aligning infrastructure with public health goals.
