Advisory On Multi-storey Sewage Treatment Plants

Sanitation Capacity Building Platform(SCBP)

Contributors: CPHEEO, MoHUA, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Technical Experts, Academic Institutions (e.g., IITs, NEERI)

CPHEEO's advisory recommends multi-storey/underground STPs as a viable solution for urban areas with land constraints. These STPs save space, reduce pipeline costs, and offer treatment efficiency comparable to conventional STPs. While initial costs may vary, overall construction costs remain comparable. Case studies and safety measures like ventilation are highlighted to guide ULBs in planning new or retrofitted facilities.
