Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA) For the Water Sector in India
Ongoing
The objective of this project is to introduce and proliferate the concept of Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA) for managing the impacts of climate change in the water sector.
Unlike traditional attempts to consider climate risks for water management, the CRIDA process does not begin with climate modeling or developing future scenarios. Instead, it uses a bottom-up approach to identify the critical thresholds of a system and then examines how future climate uncertainties affect the choice of options and trade-offs vis-a-vis these thresholds.
Over the last few years, the tool has been applied in several countries like Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, and the USA.
Highlights / Unique Features
The developers and contributors of the CRIDA Tool include UNESCO-IHP, the International Centre for Integrated Water Resource Management (ICIWaRM), Deltares, the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), the Millennium Challenge Cooperation (MCC), the World Bank, and the University of Massachusetts.
This project is the first attempt to apply CRIDA to Indian Conditions.
