Cities in India are increasingly plagued by multiple issues related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). The growing pressure on resources due to rampant urbanization has led to challenges of service delivery and poor living conditions. The Resources and Waste team at the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) has been extensively involved in the WASH sector. The team works with a range of stakeholder and partners to build knowledge and strengthen capacities across three sectors: Solid Waste Management, Used Water and Septage Management, and Urban Water Management. The main objective is the mainstreaming of sustainable resources and waste management practices in Indian cities.
