National Workshop on Capacity Building for Climate Actions

Climate Centre for Cities (C-Cube), National Institute of Urban Affairs, and GIZ India organized a National Workshop on Capacity Building for Climate Actions with more than 15 Training Institutes across the country from 21-22 December 2021. To build capacities for adopting climate-relevant actions, the C-Cube has developed and delivered 22+ training aligned to the indicators of the ClimateSmart Cities Assessment Framework (CSCAF). The 2-day event commenced with the inaugural session where Mr Hitesh Vaidya, Director, NIUA; Ms Vaishali Nandan, GIZ India addressed the participants and Dr Umamaheshwaran Rajasekar set the context for the event. The inaugural session was followed by interactive round table discussions for each thematic area where the participants were briefed on the Training Manuals.  Participants were also introduced to various virtual interaction tools for efficient and effective delivery of the training.

On the second day, the participants were introduced to The National Urban Learning Platform (NULP) followed by a detailed discussion over the Memorandum of Understanding with the institutes and Individual engagement and way forward. Shri Kunal Kumar, Mission Director SCM & Joint Secretary MoHUA interacted with the participants and mentioned that "Translating and reaching the big ideas to the person working on the ground in cities is key for building climate actions. Capacity building is the key element that enables this process". The event closed with MoU signing by Mr Hitesh Vaidya, NIUA and Ernst Doering, GIZ in presence of Shri Kunal Kumar and Ms Vaishali Nandan.
