Nabamalika Joardar manages the Institute's innovation initiatives, two national Fellowships (India Smart Cities Fellowship and National Urban Digital Mission Fellowship), and a global innovation challenge (Smart Move: Innovative Urban Mobility Challenge) at the National Institute of Urban Affairs, along with supporting multiple organisational initiatives. With almost 11 years of experience in the urban development sector, her interests are in the field of urban innovation, digital transformation, and urban policy pertaining to land and housing. She has previously worked in urban policy research and implementation, focusing on access to housing for marginalised and vulnerable communities. Apart from this, she has authored multiple articles on innovation, and educational material on urban poverty and participatory urban planning. Prior to joining NIUA, she was associated with Vision EIS Consulting, where she led teams for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in over 40 cities. She has also worked in rights-based research on housing policy and implementation. Nabamalika Joardar is an alumna of the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi. She holds a degree in Master of Planning, with a specialisation in Housing, and a specialised certification in Design Thinking and Innovation.
