Mr. Rahul Sachdeva has over 19 years’ experience in Urban Planning mainly across sectors of Sanitation, Municipal Solid Waste Management and Natural Resource Management. Worked at various levels on professional assignments with rich field experience blended with macro level planning projects in India, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. His expertise is in preparation of citywide plans with focus on integrating decentralized basic needs services (wastewater and solid waste management) with mainstream sanitation services in urban and peri-urban areas, developing proposals for project funding, business development, field studies, coordination of network partner activities, coordination with government departments, preparation of planning reports and presentations, project planning and monitoring, resource for trainings related to urban sanitation planning. He is currently positioned as Sr. Program Manager, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) project at NIUA. Before embarking on his professional endeavour Mr. Rahul persuaded his Masters in Environment Science from School of Sciences, Gujarat University. He started his carrier as research associate in CEPT University, Ahmedabad and later on worked as Program Manager (Urban Environment Management) in Environmental Planning Collaborative, Ahmedabad. Prior to joining NIUA, he was engaged with CDD Society, Bangalore for 11 years and worked in citywide sanitation planning projects with key focus on decentralised wastewater management approaches in urban areas.
