The importance of civic activism in Bengaluru city’s waste management is examined in this study. Specifically, it looks at waste management and citizen engagement in improving the quality of the environment and city governance. Civic organisations have recently been actively involved in the local interests of the city, where the environment and ecology are top priorities. In light of this, the present study describes the activists’, citizen groups’, and organisations’ initiatives and their collaborations with the local government to promote efficient governance, particularly in waste management. The article also looks at how organisations negotiate with the government and other stakeholders to adopt environmentally friendly practices and programmes to manage municipal waste in the city. Both primary and secondary data have been used in this study, and semi-structured qualitative interviews and focus group discussions were utilised to fulfil the study objective’s requirements.
