Promoting cycling in Indian cities benefits both public health and the economy. Investments in cycling infrastructure have returns of up to 5.5 times the initial investment. Additionally, it is both an active and COVID-safe means to commute. Thus on World Bicycle Day (June 3rd, Wednesday), we discuss therole of cycling in battling the health and economic crisis, and the ways to make Indian cities safe for cyclists.
