Smart Move: Innovative Urban Mobility Challenge 2020 was a data-driven innovation challenge focused on urban mobility and transport in Indian cities. The project was an initiative of MoHUA and was part of the Green Urban Mobility Partnership supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Applications were opened for three to six-member teams for a period of 70 days. A total submission of 80 concept notes, via 57 teams were received from around the globe. Ten finalists were shortlisted, who were mentored over the next nine months by industry experts, who acted as mentors to guide the teams in refining their ideas and in developing an implementable solution that was piloted in cities and scaled up across various other Indian cities. Eventually, the finalists presented their developed Minimum Viable Product (MVP) before a grand jury. At the culmination of the Challenge, the top five finalists were awarded prize money to further scale up their respective solutions. The challenge culminated with the presentation of awards to the winners at the 14th Urban Mobility India Conference 2021.
