PROJECT LEAD:
The objective of Climate Smart Cities is to anchor climate-friendly solutions for urban infrastructure projects and area-based development in the planning and implementation of projects under the Smart Cities Programme of the Government of India. It focuses on supporting cities through various instruments (technical handholding, training, peer learning) in implementing smart solutions and by that contributing to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Urban Green Planning (UGP) focuses on the implementation of an interconnected system of green spaces in cities including passive open spaces, active recreational parks and playgrounds and natural conservation areas delivered through private and public development. A robust urban green system can foster sustainable urban development and has multiple positive impacts, such as health and clean air benefits as well as increasing resilience towards climate change impacts such as heatwaves and floods. Strengthening urban green needs comprehensive planning, based on administrative structures, involving actors at community and citizen levels working in concert towards a shared vision.
